Independent grant-making

Generosity becomes participation.

We collect voluntary contributions and pass them on as carefully reviewed grants to associations working in culture, para sport and support for children without parental care.

Purpose-bound grantsSupport is assigned to defined charitable projects.
Independent reviewApplications are assessed against transparent criteria.
Documented impactFunded associations report how grants were used.

Our story

A bridge between good intentions and local expertise

The Bequest Bureau began with a simple observation: many small associations have strong ideas, committed volunteers and close knowledge of their communities, but too little time and too few resources to obtain reliable funding.

In 2014, cultural organisers, advocates of inclusive sport and professionals from child and youth welfare created a shared grant office. Their aim was to pool private contributions, assess projects carefully and direct funding to organisations capable of creating lasting participation.

Today, our work follows the same principle: donations should not disappear into structures. They should arrive where people create access, confidence and belonging.

Small organisations often achieve the greatest proximity. Our role is to give their ideas reliable financial room.

What we support

Three fields, one shared objective

We support associations that open doors, remove barriers and strengthen social participation.

01

Culture

We fund accessible concerts, theatre, visual arts, cultural education and independent venues that make creative participation possible beyond commercial structures.

02

Para sport

We help clubs obtain equipment, train coaches, organise inclusive competitions and reduce the additional costs that can prevent participation in sport.

03

Children without parental care

We support associations that provide stable relationships, education, everyday assistance and safe spaces for children growing up without reliable parental care.

How it works

From contribution to documented grant

A clear process helps donors and associations understand how decisions are made.

Pool contributions

Voluntary contributions are grouped according to their intended charitable purpose.

Review applications

Projects are checked for charitable purpose, feasibility, proportionality and safeguarding.

Award grants

Approved associations receive a written, purpose-bound funding commitment.

Report outcomes

Recipients document expenditure, implementation and the practical benefit of the project.

Our standards

Friendly in approach, reliable in administration

Transparency

Selection criteria, responsibilities and grant conditions should be understandable to donors and applicants.

Accessibility

Our communication and funding procedures should remain usable for small volunteer-led organisations.

Safeguarding

Projects involving children or vulnerable people require appropriate protection concepts and responsible handling of information.
